Musical Instruments 

Bui Le Huong pictured here is the owner of one of the companies we buy our musical instruments from in Vietnam. Her father started the business and he was a musician. Her husband is a musicologist. Here she is pictured in the yard of her factory. Musical instruments like these have been made by the native people for over 800 years from bamboo and wood. The people of Vietnam have a wonderful national pride in making high quality products for your enjoyment. The products directly below are from Vietnam, and further below are ones from Bali.  

 

T'rung. T'rungs come in many sizes. Our table model has 12 notes and 2 sticks. Just fit the pieces together, dot to dot (see photo on left) and in seconds you are playing. It all fits together in the neat box for storage. Made from Bamboo. 10" along the base, 16" high. Box is 11 1/2" by 3 1/2". $5

T'rung, large. See pictured at top of page behind Huong. For a big sound try one in your living room. These stand 5 feet tall and have 16 notes. $65 

  Stone T'rung. Same idea as above only much different sound with the 12 stone notes. Wood stand. $9. 
   
T'rung.  Professional Vietnamese musician, Suoi Dan, plays the bamboo t'rung for your listening pleasure. You will hear many traditional songs. $7.50. 

Senh sua tre. This is the plain bamboo clacker, with simple elegance. It is made just from bamboo, but it gets noticed for its sound. 10 1/2" x 6" across. $4.

Senh sua kham.  This beautiful clacker is played with the thumb and fore finger tapping together. The wooden pieces make for a bright sound. The outside is beautifully inlaid. 10 1/2" x 6" across. $5

   

Pagoda bell, Mo tram. This hollow wooden instrument has a full, rich sound. The playing stick fits inside for storage.  Carved serpents are artistically adorned on the bottom, making this a most beautiful percussion instrument. The fabric donut underneath is soft and colorful. 5" tall with stand and 5" across. $5
 
Jaw harp. Twang with the best of them with this jaw harp from Vietnam. Its cover is made from silk. The jaw harp just fits inside. Many colors available. 4 1/2". $3.
Bamboo Whistle. Whistle while you work. The slide at the bottom changes the tone. 8" long. $1.50. 
Maracas. Our maracas come from Bali. They are made from gourds and are hand painted and very colorful. Shake them and enjoy. 4” across and 9” long. $5 each.
Clacker. The Clacker is made from wood and practically plays by itself. This instrument plays like "spoons". 8" tall $5

Cricket. Use the stick and play up and down. It kind of plays by itself. 12" long. $5

Shaker. Ball and egg. Shake it up, baby, for a soft gentle sound. 3-4." $4

   

Bamboo wind Chime. Play for fun or let the wind sing to you. 10 metal notes, 7" across. $5
